Making a Website
While on one of my work experiences I got an introduction on how to use Word Press to make a website. After I was finished with that work experience I decided to continue learning how to use Word Press to create websites because I found out that You can make money from creating websites for other people.
I had to watch a lot of You Tube videos to learn how to get a server and a domain name. A domain name lets you name your website and have a .com or .net after its name. I found out these both cost money to obtain. But I found a way to get a free server and domain so I could practice building the website the only problem is I needed to use a public server which made my website very slow.
Now i can build a website I will continue practicing to get better so I can build websites for other people and get paid.

Bake Sale
On the 27th of April Ben Hogan held a Bake sale for a charity called "Operation Smile". This a a charity that raises money to preform surgery on children with Cleft lip in third world country's.
Cleft lip is a parting in the lip. Some baby's are born with this and can cause difficulty throughout there lives. It can cause difficulty eating, drinking and talking. The operation smile organisation gives free surgery to children born with cleft lip to fix the parting and will give them the same opportunity's as everyone else. We had a bake sale for this on the 27th. most people baked something for this to raise money for the organisation. We sold almost everything at the brake and Ben held a raffle. We raised over €2000 for operation smile. |

SVP Bag Packing
Many 4th year students took part in bag packing for st. Vincent de Paul in Cornelscourt. We had to make our own way to the shopping center.
There was 3 shifts during the day each was two hours long. I did to of these shifts so I ended up doing four hours of bag packing. We had to stand beside the check out and ask people if they would like a hand packing their bags. Throughout the day most people let us help pack their bags and put money into the charity bucket. some people did not want us to help pack their bags.
At the end of the day we had raised about 2000 euro to help st Vincent de Paul continue there work.

Hamper Packing
Every year the school pack hampers for Christmas for less fortunate people around the bray area. This year forth and fifth year year students had to the hampers.
The hampers include things like sausages, rashers, 7up,sweets and cans of fruit. These were all ment to make Christmas a happier day for people that can’t afford to get anything for Christmas.
We were all split up into groups and were given a certain amount of hampers to pack. We were given a list of everything we had to put in to hamper. It took everyone about an hour to do but it was worth it as it makes people happier on Christmas.

Careers Evening
The careers evening is an event held in the junior school hall after school once a year. It is open to forth, fifth and sixth year students. It is an hour where we can talk to someone working in a career that you might like to work in.
I went to someone talking about marketing an a man talking about a career in business. I also talked to two other people that night but I was not interested in.
I found that that the evening was very interesting and it allows us to have an insight on a possible career path.
